Personal Coaching is a one on one relationship based on complete confidentiality between the coach and his coachee. The coaching consists of series of conversations that will help you figure out where you are now and where you want to be. After that it is time to find out how to bridge the gap between those two. Basically coaching is geared for you to figure out what is truly important to you and if you can make sure your daily life is in line with this, you’ll live a happier and more rewarding life. Many coachees have a long term, ongoing relationship with their coach to keep them continuing to move forward.
In my coaching I believe my coachees are smart, healthy and whole. And they know what’s best for them. I believe they have their answers already within them, but haven’t been able to pinpoint them or put them into action. That’s where the coach comes in.
Coaching is a fairly new profession. At this point the profession is not ‘protected’, so anybody can call themselves a Life or Personal coach. Currently, there are virtually no governmental licensing requirements in any state or country. I believe this will be the case somewhere in the near future. It is now becoming more and more important to become an ICF Certified Coach since coachees and organizations are becoming more educated and are more likely to ask for credentials. I am educated by CoachU, one of the first training institutions of coaches and a member of the ICF. I am working with my own (mentor) coach to continue to grow as a coach myself and add more credentials to my portfolio.
